C. S. Lewis, or Jack Lewis, as he preferred to be called, was born in Belfast, Ireland (now Northern Ireland) on November 29, 1898. He was the second son of Albert Lewis, a lawyer, and Flora Hamilton Lewis. His older brother, Warren Hamilton Lewis, who was known as Warnie, had been born three years    in 1895.
Lewis's early childhood was relatively happy and carefree. In those days Northern Ireland was not yet    by bitter civil strife, and the Lewises were comfortably off. The family home, called Little Lea, was a large, gabled house with dark, narrow passages and an overgrown garden, which Warnie and Jack played in and    together. There was also a library that was crammed with books - two of Jack's favorites were Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
This somewhat idyllic boyhood came to an end for Lewis when his mother became ill and died of cancer in 1908. Barely a month after her death the two boys were sent away from home to go to boarding school in England.
Lewis hated the school, with its strict rules and hard,    headmaster, and he missed Belfast terribly. Fortunately for him, the school closed in 1910, and he was able to return to Ireland.
After a year, however, he was sent back to England to study. This time, the   proved to be mostly positive. As a teenager, Lewis learned to love poetry, especially the works of Virgil and Homer. He also developed an interest in modern languages, mastering French, German, and Italian.

Called Chomolungma ("goddess mother of the world") in Tibet and Sagarmatha ("goddess of the sky") in Nepal, Mount Everest once went by the pedestrian name of Peak XV among Westerners. That was before    established that it was the highest mountain on Earth, a fact that came as something of a surprise - Peak XV had seemed lost in the crowd of other formidable Himalayan peaks, many of which gave the    of greater height.
In 1852 the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India measured Everest's elevation as 29,002 feet above sea level. This figure remained the officially    height for more than one hundred years. In 1955 it was adjusted by a mere 26 feet to 29,028 (8,848 m).
The mountain received its official name in 1865 in honor of Sir George Everest, the British Surveyor General from 1830-1843 who had mapped the Indian subcontinent. He had some    about having his name bestowed on the peak, arguing that the mountain should retain its local appellation, the standard policy of geographical societies.

Before the Survey of India, a number of other mountains ranked supreme in the eyes of the world. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Andean peak Chimborazo was considered the highest. At a relatively unremarkable 20,561 feet (6,310 m), it is in fact nowhere near the highest,   by about thirty other Andean peaks and several dozen in the Himalayas. In 1809, the Himalayan peak Dhaulagiri (26,810 ft.; 8,172 m) was declared the ultimate, only to be shunted aside in 1840 by Kanchenjunga (28,208 ft.; 8,598 m), which today ranks third. Everest's status has been unrivaled for the last century and a half, but not without a few threats.

WRITING

PTE ACADEMIC ESSAY TOPICS WITH IDEAS :-

Good zoos serve the welfare of animals. They generate a commitment to people about the value of nature and the environment. It is undeniable fact that every living creatures have rights to live with respect and dignity in this world and they should be given an opportunity to experience their fundamental rights. Zoos are the place where all necessary amenities are met for the animals. So it is definitely not a good idea to ban zoos. I do not accord with given statement. To begin with, Zoos are the safest place for poor creatures as they are taken care well and their holistic needs are met at the time of necessity. For example, animals can be treated well in the case of medical needs and they will enjoy not only freedom of life but also the quality of life. In this way, zoos always provided enough protection to the wonderful creatures. Furthermore, emphasizing my point of view, I believe there are many species on the verge of extinction and they need to be preserved at any cost. Zoos are the prime place to protect such a beautiful nature's creation. For instance, the number of a tiger is being decreased gigantically day by day in the world and if they are not prevented from such extinction there will be hardly any tiger left in near future. In conclusion, I believe zoos play an ample role to provide basic needs to animals along with regards. Therefore, zoos need to be established in every corner of the earth and people should be made aware of animal's right.
  • Advantages and Disadvantages of Television :-
  •  Nowadays, the mass media including TV, radio and newspaper have become the essential part of our lives. What is your opinion?
Television is one of the most important invention as a healthy source of entertainment and education. It plays vital role in our daily life as whole of the world is connected with the help of television after the invention of radio.

As we know television is the best source for entertainment and education, mostly the advantages of television includes.to feel better or change the mind while having stress by listening music and by watching movies. It also help us to watch live programs which are held far away from our country or our location,it also help us to provide latest update about the news with the help of news channels sometimes we get the moral lessons by watching some movies and shows and sometimes by watching live programs of great personalities.Television also help us by providing some educational knowledge by watching educational channels like discovery science, national geographic, and also provide us knowledge about health.overall we can say that television is completely a part of family which educates and entertain from kids to old aged family members.

In contrast, television has some drawbacks too.The major drawback is that it is a waste of time because teenagers like to spend there most of the time while watching movies and cartoons rather than giving proper time to their studies.Another major drawback can be effect on eyes,if we watch television for long time.As after watching movies and some reality shows some people take them in negative way due to which sometimes it hurts the people of different religion and sometimes they take the negativity on themselves which easily disturb their life and their future too.Sometimes some movies or shows are not for youngsters to watch due to some adult content which is major advantage.

After studying the advantages and dis-advantages of television i would like to say that television play the most important role in our life until or unless it is taken negatively and is used for educational purpose and sometimes for entertainment.
  • Do you think consumers should avoid over packaged products or is it the responsibility of producers.
Packaging ensures that people can buy and use products when they want them,in good condition and with little waste, however, many people think some goods have too much packaging which should be avoided, therefore i will describe in my essay that how over packaging is useless with suitable examples.

There is a growing tendency among manufacturers to present their products in excess packaging to attract the customers due to fear of decrease in their company market share, moreover,we can also say that this over packaging is very profitable to companies as they charge extra for packaging which is paid by customer unnecessarily,Furthermore, over packaging built misguidance for the shoppers due to more packaging rather than actual size or weight of the product.

In fact, most of the packaging materials are made up of plastic which are non-biodegradable,therefore this result to soil pollution, meanwhile on other hand these polythene bags are not Eco-friendly which can effect the eatable items.

In the final analysis, we can say that we should avoid these products, meanwhile manufacturers should also show responsibility towards this.

  • In education system Assessment's through written formal examination is valid or not ?
Different educational hubs judge the knowledge of their students with their own method but the most commonly used method is by written examination.According to me written examination method is a valid method to check the mind of learners.

It could also be said that written assessment is the most convenient way to check the ability of those scholars which have fear in speaking or while expressing their ideas, moreover it is very helpful for the children which hesitate in practical examinations and other types of tests, meanwhile it is very time saving although number of learners can be examined at the same time.

Similarly with the role of written examination kids get motivated to get high scores because the competition level between the children of class increases and therefore this result to better ranks. In addition to this is a fair system  with equal time and equal questions for all sitting for examination, meaning that those students who work hard got higher marks and weak students can analyse their performance after term exams.

As can be seen written examination is the most appropriate method to evaluate the all types of students.

  • Do you think English will remain to be a global language despite Globalization ?
There is a school of thought that world has become a single village due to globalization, moreover it is not difficult to survive in any part of the world and i agree with the statement that english will remain to be a global language as it is very common all over the world rather than other languages.

As we know english language is accepted worldwide in all type of categories like trade, education, technology etc while doing international trade english is the most common language which is used between the people of different countries, meanwhile in electronic gadgets english language is the first language while other languages are additional to help the people to understand more clearly.

As english is also very easy to learn rather than other languages, most of the books are mainly in english language because there are more writers and readers of english language,it may be in form of newspaper or books. It is very helpful to teach international students and tourists while traveling to another country because all the sign boards and instructions are available in english.

Therefore,English will remain a global language because it is accepted all over the world and is easy to learn as compared to other languages.

  • What is the best invention of last 100 years, computer, antibiotic, airplane, and explain why ?
  • The mass media including TV, Radio and newspaper influence our society and shape our opinions and characters. What is your opinion?
Nowadays modern life has raised the standards of living as most of the work done in every field is supported by computer, therefore according to me computer is the best invention of last 100 years, moreover i will support my opinion with some examples further in my essay.

It is crystal clear that computer is the machine which is very easy to use and has many advantages, furthermore system is very fast as we can search over the world with the help of internet in seconds, additionally it helps youngsters and old aged people according to their needs.Although for youngsters it can be helpful in their studies, entertainment etc,on other hand for old aged people it can help them for any past search or sometimes news.

Undoubtedly, this gadget can store large number of data in systematic way, another major advantage of computer includes,as this magic box is multitasking which makes us easy to perform different task at same time with accurate answers, meanwhile it is time saving and very protective for our files, sometimes also help us to restore our data which get deleted.

In conclusion,we can say that this is the most helpful invention with accuracy which had reduce the human effort to bring more luxurious life.

  • Do you think place where the person grew has an influence on his accomplishments?
There is a general assumption that environment influences individual both genetically and develop mentally through the information that is generated in that environment and transmitted into the minds of those individuals! Even,i agree with the given statement and will discuss the reason behind my view point.

The major reason can be place where we spend our time.As people around us are the reason from which we get motivated and sometimes get some qualities and generally we get motivated by looking someone doing some social work and activities which help us for being happy.

But sometimes we get negativity due to some people which tell us some negative about the environment due to which our mind gets disturbed. But most of people help us to encourage when we are not able to proceed our goals and an individual always adopt the qualities from surroundings where most of the time is spent,it can be office , school, home etc.

Therefore, the most important part for success is having a favorable environment or surroundings according to the task for completing it.

  • The environment we live in is in danger due to various problems. What are the underlying causes? Who is responsible to combat this? What measures?
  • Roles of governments, companies and individuals to combat climate change

Rise in temperature of earth due to global warming has been mentioned the major problem for all living beings in this planet, although we ourselves are responsible for this condition, therefore i will describe further in my essay what are the causes and effects, meanwhile how government and an individual can help to improve environment.

It is a school of thought that rapid increase of pollution has been the most major factor behind global warming,as pollution may be of many type.Mostly carbon dioxide released from vehicles makes the fresh air polluted but on other hand this can be reduced if people use more public transport rather than private vehicles as in this case government has to help us to provide better public transport system which change the mind of individuals for using them.Another way too decrease the effect of carbon dioxide is by planting more trees.

Similarly,The major problems which can be seen because of high temperature are melting of glaciers ,ozone layer depletion etc, additionally melting of glaciers can result in floods which can be proved very dangerous for the population,as well as,agriculture will get high loss due to acid rain and other essential components required for proper growth.

In a nutshell,i would like to say that we should support our government to protect the environment by playing different roles to decrease the pollution.

  • Education is the biggest barrier in my learning - Einstein. What do you mean by this and do you think Einstein was correct in saying that ?

It is crystal clear that there is a huge difference between learning and education,as we know education is the material that we study for getting certificates of qualification but learning is the knowledge which we get from various sources.According to me Einstein was correct in saying this, therefore i will support my opinion further in my essay with suitable examples.

Nowadays, learners are behind the degrees which help them to get jobs in their field further in their life but this does not mean that highly educated students have more knowledge than students who never go to educational hub, moreover some teenagers have more practical skills about the field in which they are not educated, this is due to their interest in the specific field but because of qualification many children go for higher studies keeping aside their interest.

Undoubtedly,For scholars sometimes education make the time management difficult,as they remain most of the time in their institutes rather than improving their practical skills ,furthermore this is the reason due to which most of the people get unemployed because the reason behind this is lack of skills.

All in all,we should giver more time to improve our practical skills rather than spending time in cramming books to get marks in exams.

  • It is usually foolish to get married before completing your studies and getting established in a good job? do you agree or disagree ?
There are numerous disadvantages to getting married while still a student, therefore i agree with statement and will further describe the negative points on the topic with examples.

Undoubtedly, college marriage results in restriction of college experiences, participation in college functions and of relationships of college friends. As we all know college life is known as the most enjoyable and simple life but if we get married in this stage we will loose the most important part of our life, meanwhile student life is the time when teenagers get matured, moreover in this period scholars learn the basic starting steps for their further life from different sources such as teachers, friends, parents, especially their culture.

At the same time there is a great problem that this time we are dependent on our parents for all our expenditure but if we get married it is almost impossible to handle the responsibilities of our own income, whereas full time job can only lead to help for the survival of married life, which is not possible with study.

As a result,we should not get married before completing studies as this can distract us from achieving our goals in life.

  • Travel to study is over rated,we have brilliant scholars who studied locally. Is travel really required for higher studies.
Nowadays education has the most important value for being successful in over life but the thing that we should travel to study things is not a good decision,it seems to me like that travel is not required therefore i will support my opinion with some examples.

As a matter of fact if we think about travelling,it is very expensive because it is not easy for all learners to afford an educational trip, meanwhile, this is not sure that children will learn only while travelling to historical places.Instead of gaining knowledge toddlers can also get negative effects which can change their mind.

In the same way, flying to different destinations in seek of knowledge is only a time waste,it would be better to utilize that moment for any other activity.Furthermore due to advance technology and communication we can now explore the world with the help of internet which is very cheap and time saving as compared to travelling.

In brief,we can say that there is no need for travelling although we have many other sources which are substitute additionally help us to save money and time.

  • Parents should be held legally responsible for their children's act. What is your opinion support it with personal examples.
Crimes are committed nearby every moment of everyday, due to drugs, theft etc, therefore i would say that parents should be held legally responsible for their children's act with the help of some supporting ideas.

Firstly, there is no surprise that parents play a vital role in molding the behaviors of their children. As we all know students under the age of eighteen have the mind which can divert according to the guidance it  may be good or bad, meanwhile due to busy schedule of guardians they are helpless for their own kids which is the most negative point, although they themselves create the environment for their teenagers which effect their mind and study.

Secondly, due to less focus on family parents cannot give proper time to their children by which teenagers start showing their interest in their friends and sometimes some friends change the mind of their own friends and fill them with negative thoughts against their parents.Afterwards the students show more interest in other task rather than that activities which will help in their future, because this age is learning age for youngsters.

In a crux,i would like to say that parents should spend their time with their kids to understand them and to analyse their mind.

  • In under developed countries tourism has disadvantages and can be said that opposite as well.
In recent decades, low cost airfare has made international travel easier and many countries have taken steps for the tourist attraction, therefore according to me it is very advantageous for under developed countries. So i will support my opinion with relevant examples in my essay.

Undoubtedly, tourism is the most profitable part for the country because due to tourism there will be increase in variety of transportation, hotels, entertainment and restaurants. This will result to number of jobs to unemployed people, moreover we can say that this will develop the infrastructure of the country. In fact this will help to save the nature because most of the tourist are attracted by nature, furthermore this will bring international investors to the country.

However, people travelling from different countries will help the population of undeveloped countries to learn about different cultures and their lifestyle, similarly more visitors to the country can help to introduce the country name in whole world.

Ultimately,i would like to say that tourism is very fruitful for the economic growth of the country.

  • Some people believe laws change human Behavior.Do you agree with it ?
Laws are made for the betterment of the society and people, moreover it prevents people to do from crime, ill deeds, infact help other for being responsible and civilized,Therefore i agree with this statement.

Predominately, there are some factors which comes in human behavior due to law.The major factor is feeling of fear and being civilized.Fear on the mind of people plays an important role on the minds of humans which think about rape, corruption, eve teasing.Due to some law people get civilized as they are aware of the laws like child labor is banned and for teenagers under the age of eighteen they are not supposed to do work as they have to study till eighteen.

Moreover, law also help us for being responsible as while following traffic rules.Another way through which laws can help us can be discipline while teachers and students must be disciplined in learning institutes and follow the rules and regulations according to their school or college.

Retrospectively, i would like to say that laws are the most helpful factor for being more civilized and responsible for better survival.
